Retreat FAQ

This is the home page for those participating in the Creighton University's Online Retreat in Everyday Life originally organized at the Catholicism, holiness and spirituality blog. If you have questions about it then please send an email.

What is a retreat?

As they say at the Creighton University site that hosts this retreat, it's not a retreat from the world, but a retreat towards God. It's a series of reflections, time spent in prayer, and scripture that help open us up to God's grace and will for our lives, designed to fit into our busy lives. A journey towards a closer relationship with God.

This online retreat is based on the concepts of the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises, a particular form of retreat developed by St Ignatius of Loyola (founder of the Jesuits) about 450 years ago. Creighton's site also more information on how this retreat works.

How can I participate?

We will start this retreat Sep 17, 2006, in line with the Liturgical year. If you want to join us in the discussion forum please register. However, one can start the retreat any time at Creighton's site, independent of our forum here.

The retreat materials are organized by week, and are available via your browser or PDF file. You can also use Avantgo to download each week's material your Palm or PocketPC device, or download and listen to MP3 audio files of each week.
