Lunch Provider Guidelines

You should arrive at the site around 11:30 a.m. to allow time to get set up for a Noon Lunch.  You can ask for a volunteer to lead a Meal Time Prayer (just a simple table Grace is fine), or someone with you may wish to lead them if you would like. It’s hard to get everyone together at one time … but it’s nice to offer one.

Bring lunch for approximately 15 people.  (The Lead Site Coordinator or Lunch Coordinator will give you a call the Monday or Tuesday prior to your Saturday if that number changes). Please keep in mind that the workers will have to eat from their laps - there are no tables, chairs, etc. at the site.

Suggestions for lunch:

  • ready made sandwiches or finger foods (i.e.  subs, sloppy joes, pizza, chicken, hamburgers/hotdogs, cold cuts)

  • chips (individually wrapped)

  • fresh fruit (whole apples, banana, oranges, etc.)

  • dessert (cookies, brownies or bars)

  • sodas (cans)

  • Hot dishes (chili, soups, casseroles) are a wonderful treat on cold days

You will also need to bring:

  • Table(s) to serve your food from.

  • Paper Products (wet wipes, plates, napkins, plastic ware, & cups if needed). The plates should be rather sturdy since they have to eat from their laps.

  • Large plastic garbage bags.  All trash (plates, cans, etc.) must be removed from the site when you leave.  I’m sure if you speak to the person in charge at your home church they would allow you to place the bags in the church’s dumpsters.

You may wish to provide the entire meal yourself, ask fellow members of your group (Bible study groups or other committees you may be part of) to help you prepare and/or serve the lunch.  That is totally up to you.

We have been in contact with area restaurants to get donations.  If you need help in obtaining food donations, please call me for this information.

Please feel free to call or email Linda Light (752-7853) with any additional questions or concerns.
